Never program 9-1-1 into your speed dial! Pocket dials can result and needlessly tie up life saving resources for real emergencies! Provincial 9-1-1 answering points are only staffed with 2 call takers on duty per shift. Pocket dials and nuisance calls to 9-1-1 can easily overwhelm the centers and interfere with a real call for help in an emergency.
The 9-1-1 Education Group is pleased to introduce you to the incredible and interesting world of
9-1-1 Emergency Education, public awareness campaigns and Children Safety Education Programs.
Whether or not you have used or will use the 9-1-1 Emergency Number we feel our programs will be educational and informative and our 9-1-1 Reminders and Literature will be helpful to you personally. We especially have observed that our Children's Educational Program, "Teach A Child This Number - 9-1-1" leaves the whole community with a lasting, beneficial impression.
9-1-1 is an emergency number for Canada and the U.S.A. Here are some global numbers.
Nationwide between 50 to 90 percent of the calls to 911 are deemed non-emergencies.
